Happy Friday

6 Aug

Starting this week I will be adding a new segment to my blog, Friday Finds. I’m working on a couple of things, everything is still very hush hush – {very CIA}! Here‘s a sneak peek. More information to come….

Here are some interesting finds this week:

I don’t think my thoughts can fit in these little guys, but, I can try! They are so darn adorable…

I can’t wait to try this salad on a summer weekend. Something fresh and easy…just remember – hot, sour, salty, and sweet! (bet you can’t say that 5 times)

Adorable! I just need need an event to wear it to. Maybe just around the house!

Sweetest reunion…I love you franklin!

I think I can count on one hand how many I’ve read off the list. How about you?!

Unbelievable photography….

Love these invitations, fun and colorful. I will definitely be using this as inspiration for my next cake!

Green way of wrapping…Great DIY project

Every amateur and professional pastry chef should look into helping out however they can. Such an amazing way to bring a smile to a child’s face!

Have a great weekend…lots to do! Can’t wait to show you a sneak peek of what I’m doing, next week.

Morning After….

14 Jun

The inspiration this week came from reminiscing about the morning after my wedding. Celebrating with friends and family until the wee hours of the morning, going back to our lavish hotel room, and waking up the first morning as Mr. & Mrs…

The morning after, no matter what, feels like the world is new. As if God made the day extra beautiful as a wedding gift. I thought about how incredibly tired we both were, but, how much we both wanted to celebrate the first morning as the new Mr. & Mrs. We got up, rubbed the sleep out, and joined our family for breakfast.

So my inspiration this week, was the morning after the wonderful celebration of the wedding. In this inspiration I set up a colorful intimate setting for brunch. Homemade pastries, colorful fruit on the palette, and an intimate setting make for a great morning after celebration.

Moroccan Love

1 Jun

This weekend I watched my guilty pleasure, Sex and the City 2. SPOILER ALERT!! While watching the movie for the second time, I was able to fully appreciate the breath taking scenes in Morocco. The colors, the desert, and the clothes of course.

With all the beautiful colors I was inspired to make a Moroccan themed wedding cake. Integrating the colors and some of the architecture typically seen, I set out designing and making the wedding cake….

While watching the movie, Chocolat, this weekend, I was inspired to imagine a wedding centered around chocolate.

Delicate and simple, the cake is white chocolate inside and out. Chocolate cigarette curls decorate the outside while white chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream fill the inside.  A simple yet sophisticated cake.

Secret Garden

17 May

Pinks and peonies. Peonies and pinks – soft, delicate, and so romantic. This week I was inspired by my green thumb. My husband and I started our own little secret garden (well, not so secret…it is right outside our front door). However, Spring seems to have nipped me in the ‘sweetcakes’ this weekend. I found myself falling in love with some beautiful peonies, so, I felt the need to make a secret garden inspired wedding cake….

Lace in your face….

17 May

It’s all about lace this week. I recently did a traditional, Spanish inspired wedding – where lace played a big part. The brides dress was covered in lace and she wore a traditional Spanish Mantilla. The intricate lace design in both the dress and the veil were exquisite.
